Southern United States
We've explored the South a bit, but since it's our home, we often venture further afield. Our jaunts to Louisiana and Florida were delightful, and there's nothing quite like returning to the comforts of Texas. To view an image in greater detail, click on it. Florida
Our 50th wedding anniversary celebration took us on a memorable journey to Florida. The beaches were stunning, albeit crowded, with limited access. The Everglades National Park was a highlight, offering both beauty and the thrill of wildlife encounters that were exhilarating and just a tad intimidating.
Louisiana
In 2011, we passed through Louisiana on our way to Florida. Louisiana always offers interesting sights. We observed a farmer harvesting crawdads. Staying in the main house at Nottoway Plantation and sitting on the veranda to watch barges on the Mississippi River were memorable experiences, marking a wonderful celebration of our 50th anniversary.
Texas
Although Texas is our home state, we often explore its attractions when traveling elsewhere. It seems to always take two days to get out of Texas, so we plan our journey to include various sights. The whooping cranes at Aransas National Wildlife Refuge are a local highlight. Their migration to Texas for the winter is always a delight to witness.
