Gdansk, Poland - A Morning Visit
Gdank was a great city to visit for our brief stop in Poland. The 16th century Green Gate, the entrance to the city’s most historic and picturesque streets marked the start of Gdańsk’s old town. Just to the left stood a row of colorful townhouses—each with its own roofline, window style, and quiet charm. Classic European character, tucked beside the Green Gate.
Our guide explained how Gdańsk preserves its past by blending historic facades with modern construction. In this scene, a new Marriott was rising behind a surviving pre‑war frontage, with new sections built to match the older style. History and progress, side by side.
Gdańsk was a beautiful place to explore, with colorful buildings lining the waterfront and boats moving through the canal. The city had an easy charm that was simple to enjoy. It would have been nice to linger, but there just wasn't enough time. The ship left for the next port that afternoon.
